The promise of Eternal life has been a clarion call to the Saints for centuries, rousing them to action and heroic virtue. They knew that, compared with Eternity, this life is but a shadow. We must seek the same destination as the Saints in the midst of a world filled with amusements and vanities that constantly threaten our journey to Heaven. St. Alphonsus Liguori's Attaining Salvation is a timeless, priceless compass for that journey. Written when the great Doctor of the Church was 77 years old, this treasury of reflections shines with the mature learning of a brilliant mind and a life filled with the study and service of God. With 45 short chapters filled with provocative Scripture quotes, this book is at once challenging and easy to understand. It can be read a little at a time or all at once with equal benefit. The chapters cover a wide range of topics, including The Thought of Eternity, We Are Pilgrims on Earth, I Must One Day Die, Necessity of Mental Prayer, The Mercy of God, Detachment from Creatures, Lukewarmness and Purity of Intention. Attaining Salvation is a beautiful gem that will instruct and inspire every reader because it is written with the commanding insight of one of the Church's great saints. Its words do not just feed the intellect; they nurture the soul. It is St. Alphonsus Liguori at his best. St. Alphonsus Liguori was born in 1696 to Neapolitan nobility at Marianella, Italy. He became a recognizable lawyer after going through law school at the age of sixteen, but later decided to leave law in favor of giving his salvation more attention. Alphonsus joined the Oratory of St. Philip Neri as a seminarian and was ordained in 1726, when he was thirty. The homilies he gave had the special ability of converting those who had fallen away from the faith. He also founded the Congregation of the Most Holy Redeemer, and authored such works as The Glories of Mary, The True Spouse of Jesus Christ, Attaining Salvation, The Blessed Virgin Mary, Preparation for Death Abridged, What Will Hell Be Like?, The Twelve Steps to Holiness and Salvation, and The Way of the Cross. After being a bishop for over a decade, St. Alphonsus Liguori died on the first of August, 1787. He was canonized by Pope Gregory XVI in 1839, and declared a Doctor of the Church in 1871. His feast is celebrated on August 1.

How did we get here? How did everything get here - our planet, our solar system ... our universe?
For generations, science has ignored the concept of creation because doing otherwise would beg the question ... of a Creator. Today, however, we have compelling evidence - from science itself - for a beginning and fine-tuning of the universe. The insights are complementary, and that very fact provides evidence of a transcendent, intelligent Creator.
Cosmic Origins explores those insights. Executive Producer Fr. Robert J. Spitzer, S.J., Ph.D., is a philosopher, educator, author and former President of Gonzaga University. He is founder and President of the Magis Institute for Faith and Reason, an organization dedicated to public education on the relationship among the disciplines of physics, philosophy, reason, and faith.
This fascinating film features Fr. Spitzer and a group of physicists and academic heavyweights exploring modern scientific theories about how the universe came to exist. Joining Fr. Spitzer are Nobel Laureate Arno Penzias (who discovered the background radiation from the Big Bang), Templeton Prize winners John Polkinghorne (Cambridge) and Michael Heller (Vatican Observatory), Owen Gingerich (Harvard), Lisa Randall (Harvard), Jennifer Wiseman (NASA) and Stephen Barr (University of Delaware), who narrates the film.Throughout the journey, viewers learn that modern scientific paths point toward a very Christian understanding of how we came to be.
Cosmic Origins explains what we know about the beginning and nature of the universe, as well as its transcendent implications in clear, easy-to-understand terms. The film weaves together a compelling narrative from academics and credentialed scientists pointing toward a very Christian understanding of how the universe came to exist.
Cosmic Origins expertly conveys a vital and important message for everyone - our Christian faith is not disproven by modern science, but rather corroborated by it.

Mirjana Soldo was only 16 years old when she and five other children saw a mysterious young woman on a remote hillside in the village of Medjugorje, then part of Yugoslavia. The woman—who possessed a beauty and grace that seemed to come from beyond—identified herself as the Virgin Mary.
The apparitions that began on the afternoon of June 24, 1981 would dramatically change Mirjana’s life and the lives of countless people around the world. Her claims, however, contradicted the atheistic ideologies of the Communist government and Mirjana was deemed “an enemy of the state.” They persecuted her, but she never denied what she saw.
Amazingly, the apparitions have continued for over 35 years. Millions of people travel to Medjugorje every year in search of answers to life’s biggest questions. The messages given by Mary are a call for mankind to return to God. And, according to Mirjana, the Virgin entrusted her with ten secretsthat foretell the future of the world—secrets that she will reveal within her lifetime.
Mirjana believes that now is the time to share her story with the world through her auto-biography, MY HEART WILL TRIUMPH. Every sale benefits Mary's Meals, a charity that feeds over a million children every day.
